Hello,

I have a requirement from a university research group; they are looking to build a large reflector out of Aluminium -- it's a structure which should be quite accurate (~10 mil?) on the inside while the other dimensions are not that critical.

The easiest way to visualize this would be a satellite dish:

In that case the inside face of the dish is required to be accurate; the other sides (and the back/etc.) are not that crucial.

Would anybody be interested in quoting this? Thank you.

Ok , A little move information needed.

Approx size of dish and finish needed on machine surface.

Thanks

I saw you tried to PM me -- just cleaned up my inbox.

The finish on the machined surface is ball milled. The accuracy requirement is around 5 mil (based on a CNC programmed file). Is there another way to describe the finish?

Size of the dish is about 60 inches around x 16 inches tall, but it could be split up into equal sized segments (which then would need to be aligned).

Here's a picture of the idea.

Can you send files to be quoted on please? sales @ opschuman . com
Would this have thickness of material, other specs, etc?

Thanks,
Aidan

Ok, just as a quick update if anybody can help with this there's a way to split up the large piece into four-five identical smaller pieces so it's a lot more doable...anybody else who may be interested in quoting?

Thank you.

What about splitting the dish into 5 equal segments with flanged joints?
Looks doable. Accuracy +/- .010"?

Yes I have a design which is 1/5th or 1/4th of the original design -- so if anybody can still quote this or is interested please let me know...I understand the large piece is a PITA and not really cost-effective...
