Garret, I don't need help with specific parts, but I would love if RFQWORK could collect guides for diferent processes. I've made a start with my guide to 2D processes: http://www.jeffalbro.net/cnc/2d-comparison/ But I have NO idea about costs and design considerations for molded plastic...

    Aluminum part

I'm gonna be nosey here... If you can allow the part to be stack laminated, and then pinned together, you could make it on a waterjet cheaply. It looks like your fins/troughs are all the same width. EDIT Never mind... I just looked closer at the fin/trough widths. /EDIT -Jeff

Ballpark numbers for 20" spun aluminum sphere section...

Just looking at options.... Take a look at this website: http://www.mag1instruments.com/ A two part ball is a possibility, but the seam would have to be quote smooth and of a fairly constant radius. Thanks for the feedback! -Jeff

OK We need some closure here!

DareBee, you seem to be **unusually** well informed about customs and shipping. Once, I got a quote from Austrailia, and I asked what the parts would cost to get here and they had no idea... I dropped them like a hot potato. I'm **happy** to accept quotes from out of the country as long as...

OK We need some closure here!

DareBee, You are correct that us buyers need to do a better job awarding jobs here. I closed my thread but still need to respond to e-mailed quotes individually. One comment, buyers SHOULD be afraid of importing. I just got hosed on brokerage fees from Canada. My RFQs now state: "If you...
