The Field Service Technician/Engineer drives customer satisfaction by installing or providing support of electrical and mechanical aspects of the company’s complete offering of machine tool solutions.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
The Field Service Technician/Engineer is responsible for installing new Horizontal Machining Centers, Vertical Machining Centers, and cylindrical grinding machines (including all options and accessories on all machine types) in North America. This person analyzes findings to determine source(s) of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or application issues, coordinates problem resolution, and recommends repair, replacement, and/or other corrective action for Toyoda’s complete line of CNC VMCs, HMCs, and cylindrical grinding machines. The Field Service Technician/Engineer provides on-site and remote support (telephone, email, etc.) to customers, distributors, and colleagues and may also provide project management and training as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
You have no personnel supervisory responsibilities, but you have responsibility for management of short/long term projects and their strategic objectives.
Travel:
As a Field Service Technician/Engineer, you should be flexible for company funded travel during 90-100% of your work week. Many projects may require travel by automobile/car and/or airplane. International travel may be required.
Required Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:
• Color vision, hearing, and the ability to push at least 100 pounds and lift at least 50 pounds
• Ability to climb/descend ladders and the ability to bend/twist
• Hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate ancillary equipment and tools
• Ability to interpret engineering documents such as schematic drawings and blueprints
• Knowledge of leveling, checking, and adjusting the geometry of CNC machinery
• Understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic/lubrication circuits
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivation, detail orientation, and the ability to work with minimum supervision
• Knowledge of PLC programming, control systems, digital servo systems, power circuits, and related ancillary equipment
• Knowledge of repair of mechanical devices, close-tolerance machining, and/or related metrology is highly desired
• Integration experience with PLC and CNC controls on machine tools is highly desired
Required Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of work experience/training in machine tool technology (both electrical and mechanical) or an applicable discipline
• Valid driver/operator license with the availability for unrestricted travel
• Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, Windows operating system, and other line of business applications
• Post-secondary degree/certificate or licensing in a skilled trade related to machine tool technology is highly desired
• Experience with regulatory workplace safety compliance standards (OSHA, etc.) is highly desired
• Baccalaureate degree in maintenance technology, engineering, or other applicable discipline is highly desired
