Default Lathe work, 200-500pcs 1/2" 7075 Al stock - RFQ CLOSED

1) Material type - Aluminum 7075 alloy
2) Is a material quote required or is material supplied? - Either works for me.
3) Quantity - 200 to 500 pieces depending on relative pricing
4) Drawings should be immediately available or necessary specs. - Attached
5) Required time frame - 2 Weeks preferred

Looking for a quote under the price of current manufacturer, was referred to this board as a source of excellent work!

Thank you very much,

Ryan Kenaley

Default Concern!

Hey RYAN, I'd like to know that you will not be awarding your work to "CHINA"

There is no way that anyone can compete against pricing like he has posted here, (($1.00 USD per piece??? ))

This truly concerns me and discourages me from further quoting, "TIME IS MONEY" (( QUOTING TAKES TIME = MONEY ))

We need to keep our own Economy Alive and Well, awarding to China definitely defeats that purpose.

Respectfuly BUT Concerned

SteelCutter,
I would not be too concerned about the $1 per piece quote.
There are many factors that the potential importer must consider besides just the per piece cost.

This is not a slam on Eric or China, they are just trying to make a living like everyone else, so Eric please do not take it as such, you have every right to quote prices and quote them on this board. Our cost of living and business expense is so vastly different you should be able to easily see our point of view and why it gets us upset.

Some additional considerations.
1) Shipping cost, fast = expensive / less cost = slow boat (Like up-to 6 weeks)
2) Import and duty fees
3) The uninitiated will be wise to use an import Broker at additional expense, this can be very problematic and very expensive if done wrong. You are totally responsible even if the Broker screws up.
4) What about problems, ship them all back to wherever to hopefully get the problem corrected by someone. Maybe not real promising.
5) Delays in customs is very common
6) They will ship FOB, what this means is that once the part leaves the manufacturers hands for shipping you are totally responsible for loss, damage, whatever. There is insurance though, but at more expense and you can bet that compensation will not be fast, leaving you with no product and requiring you to start all over, or wait if you are able.
7) The possibility of questionable material quality is real.
8) Language and communication problems.
9) There are additional considerations I am sure.

Thanks everyone who replied!

I would like to prevent this from going too off course, unless of course Ken, being the moderator, would like to restructure this discussion elsewhere. I have had an awesome experience with RFQW so far, and I hope everyone whom I have contacted can work with me at some point down the line.

Unless the board desires otherwise, RFQ closed successfully.

Ryan Kenaley
