Default CAD work

I've been doing most of my drawings on my own, and trying to see what the going rate is for work to get done... I've recently been able to use Mastercam Solids at work, but it's been after hours, and that's starting to get old...

So what are the going rates?... How do you charge, by hour, job, what exactly...

Im in the process of trying to setup an automotive accesory website and want to look at my options.

Thanks in advance!
Steve

The going rate for machine work varies with location and equipment. I have one rate for prototype work and another for VMC work. My Horizontal has a higher hourly rate than any of the other machines but it produces more per hour.
If you are going to shop by price alone, You will be sadly dissappointed. You should be working to develop good relations with shopt that are aboe to both produce your parts as well as work out issues with your parts that you may have not envisioned.
I've been doing this for a LONG time. I will drop a customer that is only interested in cost in a second.

Normally, I charge $25.00 an hour; it may be more if it is something I don’t like to do or a tight deadline. I won’t charge for time talking about the job unless it gets excessive. I work a 45 -50 hour week as a machinist so scheduling can be difficult sometimes. I’ll do just about anything from 3D modeling, creating digital files from rough sketches, machine programming and some design work. I keep the rate low because I do this when I have time. The first job is free up to one hour. After that it is a one hour minimum and I will give you a rough quote. I use the phone or Skype along with Unyte to collaborate, allowing the client to see my desktop. Payment is with PayPal and is due when the file is delivered or on a schedule if it’s a large job. I use Rhino 4, AC2000, and FeatureCam V8.

Default I can help

I am a senior in college and would charge by the job. I have both AutoCAD 2007 and Mastercam X2. I do have a job right now but i would have no problems getting you what you need. I can assure you that my prices will be lower then anybody’s I am just looking to eat for the week. I also have acrobat adobe 3D this is nice because it will allow your customers to look at the part and be able to rotate it with just the standard adobe viewer. Adobe also compresses the files small enough to be sent through email without any problems. Shoot me a pm or you can email me at tylergledhill@hotmail.com if you’re interested.

Steve,

I normally charge per job and that works out to be around $20. an hour so you know the price and it doesn't change. I have over 15 years experience in this field of work, from 3D modeling, to design. I do reverse engineering, and machine programming as well. I can send you any file ext. you need, to the completed part. I have a quick turn around time.
If you would like to contact me about a job do so at cmk84u2@yahoo.com

Hello Mr. Steve,
We will be able to meet your objectives, both by delivery schedules and pricing. We would like to interact with you to learn about the nature of the work. Our company offers CAD design & CNC on varuous high-end software like Unigraphics, Catia V4, Catia V5, Pro-e, Master CAM, Delcam etc. Our rates vary between USD 10 as lowest and USD 35 as highest depending on the nature of the work and engagement. We have been offering CAD/CAM/CAE work to one of the US Aircraft interior major which is now shaped as a Dedicated Engineering Design Centre.

Normally we pick the work orders with lowest possible rate and then grow bigger in volumes and revenues. We go by the fact that low hourly rates are not the only parameter, but the cost per design is the key (hourly rate X no.of hours, with zero rework).

I offer to work on your test pilot work, to make ourselves transparent to you.
Let me know if this suits your planning.
regards,
Siva Patnaik
