Velociter is on a distinguished road
Post Electrical Steel Stator Lamination Stack Prototype - Laser Cut and Laser Welded

Please see disclosure below:
Please direct any inquiries to Brett via email at Customersupport@Velociter.us

Bid opens: 28-August-2007
Bid Closes: 4-September-2007
Award expected: before 15-September-2007 [see details below]

Finished Item: 10048-101 rev 2 [pressed and laser welded]
Made from: 10049-101 rev 2 [laser cut]

These parts will be laser cut from NON-ORIENTED ELECTRICAL SHEET STEEL per drawing 10049-101 rev 2.pdf and laser welded as indicated on drawing 10048 rev2.pdf.

Approved material grades:
[We understand that the most difficult part of making this item might be finding a small quantity of an acceptable material. Please note that other grades of non-oriented electrical steel can be considered.. please advise DETAILED specifications if you are proposing alternate materials]
. B50A470
. 47F280
. M470-50A
. 50W470
Requested steel thickness is 0.47mm or 0.50mm. If you can provide this item using THINNER material [more layers in finished stack], that may be acceptable, but 0.47 - 0.50mm is preferred.

Quantity: 10 finished stacks [each stack is about 40 layers, see drawings]. Supplier must include the material cost in their quotation.

Notes:
1. Stack height tolerance is CRITICAL. Outer and inner diameter tolerances are CRITICAL.
2. Drawing states TIG weld. Please quote LASER welding.
3. Drawing states that parts should be marked with part number. This can be done with simple marker for prototypes. Nothing fancy/expensive is required.
4. We realize that since welds are all inside the center of the part, some flaring is possible at the outer edges of the stack after welding. Supplier should try to minimize this flaring, while remaining cost-conscious. Minimal flaring can be addressed by end customer during winding.

Additional quantities: This is a prototype part. It is likely that we will test, modify and produce additional prototypes before freezing the design and starting volume production overseas [see disclosure].

Awarding this bid, production volumes...
This item is being quoted on behalf of our customer. While we do expect to be awarded this prototye production order, we do not currently have a PO for this item. We are currently delivering other similar production parts to this customer and we anticipate that we will win this prototype business, assuming we are able to offer a reasonable cost to our end customer.

In volume production, our customer will assemble these parts into their finished product which will be manufactured overseas. We anticipate that after the design is finalized, this item will be tooled overseas for volume production as a stamped and press-fit lamination. The winning bidder should expect only prototype business from this RFQ.

DISCLOSURE: Velociter is primarily engaged in sourcing overseas products on behalf of US buyers. From time to time we are requested to provide prototype parts, highly technical parts or other parts that are better handled domestically [USA/Canada]. We have also worked with US-based fabricators to produce high-volume items overseas [extrusions, milling, welding, CNC, etc.], thereby freeing up US factory capacity and enabling higher margin goods to be produced in the US and lower margin goods to be produced overseas at more competitive margins. We make every effort to be respectful of the US-centric focus of this web site. This is a serious inquiry, we are not just shopping for a target price. Please, no flames.
