I would suggest posting a target price, before people spend a lot of time working a quote. This is an unbiased opinion from someone not interested in bidding the job. If you want a cosmetically nice, in tolerance part, I think your looking at a lot more money than you would expect, if you are not familiar with manufacturing costs. This is one of those parts that would have a small per unit cost if cast in volume, but machining 1-3 is going to be expensive as programming and set-up charges are amortized over so few units.

Yeah, these are gonna be pricey if you only want 3. Still even at a quantity of 100...you should be looking at the higher end of 2 digits ($XX.XX)

Ya. I agree with runner. A 3D model is definately reqiured if you want to keep programming costs down.

WOW, I was a little overwhelmed at the response for quotes. I received alot of quotes and decided on one. You guys are amazing in your responces. I tried to answer the first few in email but quickly got swamped. Thanks everyone for all your help. -John

That is the bad economy at work, if you would have posted this 3 years ago,
you would have got 3 replies in 2 weeks. Would you mind posting a general idea of the price range and quantity you accepted? I think all the bidders would be curious. Like I said, I did not bid as my area of expertise and where I am most competitive is production quantity lathe work. Inquiring minds want to know, as with the bad economy and global competition one has to price their services at current market rate or they will have no business.

How's a guy supposed to bid if you never answer questions sent in a PM, for ****s sake? I'm sure I wouldn't have got the job anyway...I don't feel like firing up a $100,000 machine for $20 bucks an hour. I can't wait to see the going price.

The last job I bid on here (that was local to me). Was made 1000 miles for less than 25% of what I quoted.
I expect this to be the same.
We are really busy, and even if we weren't, I won't work for $15/hour either.
It is a buyers market, for those willing to shop worldwide.
I hope you get good parts.

Unfortunately you can't blame the RFQ poster, blame the guys that bid away with out getting things as important as tolerances listed. It's a case where the competent person asking the pertinent questions looks bad for needing further information to make a quote. It is shameful how unprofessional people have become fighting over crumbs.
